Description

The Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory TM (ECBI) and the Sutter-Eyberg Student Behavior Inventory-Revised TM (SESBI-R) are comprehensive, behaviorally specific rating scales that assess the current frequency and severity of disruptive behaviors in the home and school settings, as well as the extent to which parents and/or teachers find the behavior troublesome. By evaluating the variety and frequency of behaviors commonly exhibited by all children, the instrument distinguishes normal behavior problems from conduct-disordered behavior in children and adolescents. In addition to being the outcome measure required for most PEI-funded practices related to Parenting and Family Difficulties as well as Disruptive Behavior Disorders, the ECBI & SESBI-R can provide valuable diagnostic information and help providers make treatment decisions by showing whether symptoms are changing over time. This training explores the types of Disruptive Behavior Disorders in children and adolescents. Those in attendance will learn about the ECBI & SESBI-R, increase comfort in administration and scoring, build interpretation skills, and understand the clinical utility of the instruments.

Target Audience

This training is intended for clinicians doing ART, PATHS, MAP-Disruptive Behavior, Triple P, IY, PCIT, FC, UCLA TIES, CFOF, LIFE, RPP, and NPP, with PEI funding. It is also recommended for all supervisory and administrative personnel who are working with the above-mentioned PEI programs.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Describe types of disruptive behaviors in children and adolescents and give examples
  2. Discuss the importance of assessing behavior problems in children and adolescents
  3. Administer and score the ECBI & SESBI-R
  4. Identify and interpret ECBI/SESBI-R T-scores
  5. Identify the clinical utility of the ECBI & SESBI-R
