Description

The Trauma Symptom Checklist for Young Children (TSCYC) is a 90-item caretaker report instrument developed for the assessment of trauma-related symptoms in children ages 3 – 12.  It contains two reporter validity scales and eight clinical scales.  The scales allow a detailed evaluation of posttraumatic stress symptoms and a tentative PTSD diagnosis.  It also provides information on other symptoms such as anxiety, depression, anger and abnormal sexual behavior.

Target Audience

Clinical staff who are trained in the evidence-based practice of Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) as well as those that provide support for practice (data entry, supervisor, case managers, etc).

OBJECTIVES

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the TSCYC
  2. Administer the TSCYC with fidelity
  3. Practice scoring and interpretation of the TSCYC
  4. Explain the clinical utility of the TSCYC
  5. Complete questionnaires according to LACDMH’s protocol for PEI outcome data collection
